The Breeds of Sheep in India
Nellore sheep: This breed is found in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. It's identified as the tallest sheep in India and comes in colours that are either completely white or white with brown or black markings.
Deccani sheep: This breed of sheep is found in the Deccan Plateau region, specifically in the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. They look small, hard, and have grey and black hair colour. Their wool weight is 4.54 kg per sheep.
Marwari: In the Marwar region of Rajasthan, you will notice that this sheep is significant, particularly in the districts of Nagaur, Pali, and Jodhpur. This sheep has a black-colored face and a white body. They weigh between 18 and 47 kg.
Bellary: They almost look like Deccani sheep, but are native to Karnataka. In this breed, most males have horns, while females are polled.
