EA Sports FC 25 Road to Glory: The Journey Through Rivals and Weekend League

Welcome back, FC fans! Today, we dive deep into Episode 42 of the Road to Glory (RTG) series in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team. As the weekend approaches, we’re gearing up for the Weekend League with our newly revamped squad, fresh strategies, and a whole lot of excitement. Let's break down the changes, analyze the squad, and EA FC 25 Coins discuss some key SBC strategies to maximize our coin returns.

Building the Squad
In every RTG journey, squad development is crucial. This week, we made some important changes, bringing in the clinical finisher, Al-Jaber, for 80k coins. Al-Jaber has already shown promise, scoring two goals in his debut match and proving that he might be the hidden gem we need. On top of that, we've also invested in Heung-Min Son, a fan-favorite who brings finesse and versatility, especially with his lethal finesse shots. Son was a hefty investment at 297k coins, but his pace and shooting ability can be game-changers in high-stakes matches.

Formation Adjustments: Going Back to 4-4-2
One of the biggest adjustments in this episode is returning to the 4-4-2 formation. Previously, 4-4-2 led to a strong finish in the Weekend League, and we’re hoping for a repeat performance. The 4-4-2 setup provides balanced coverage on the field, with two strikers creating more scoring chances upfront. Al-Jaber and Son will likely lead the attack, while Frenkie de Jong controls the midfield alongside Wijnaldum, adding stability and creativity.
Chemistry Considerations
Chemistry is crucial for a squad’s cohesion in Ultimate Team, and any reshuffle can disrupt the balance. One potential swap could be to remove Frenkie de Jong, not because he lacks talent but to maintain chemistry. If we decide to replace de Jong, we could switch to a defensive midfield with Rijkaard and add another Dutch player to preserve chemistry.

Rivals Gameplay: Testing the Waters
Before jumping into the Weekend League, we wanted to test the squad in Division Rivals. Division 2 is always a challenging test for any team, and we faced opponents with solid defenses and potent attacks. Our first match against a three-at-the-back formation went well; Al-Jaber was in top form, scoring a hat-trick. However, defending remains a concern, as we conceded due to a few player-switching mishaps. But the main takeaway? Al-Jaber is indeed a beast.

Division 2: A Whole New Level of Competition
Division 2 brought out some nail-biting moments. Even with an early lead, we had to maintain our composure as our opponent adjusted tactics. Thankfully, Son’s finesse shot came through in the end, and we managed to clinch a close 3-2 victory. Division 2 has always been challenging, but it’s an excellent way to prepare for the pressure of the Weekend League.

SBC Strategy: Maximizing Coin Returns
SBCs are integral to any RTG series, and our approach this week was all about coin efficiency. Here’s what we tackled:

Marquee Matchups
Marquee Matchups are always a reliable way to earn packs and tradable players. By using lower-rated, untradeable cards in the SBC, we maximize the value without breaking the bank. In one of the packs, we scored some Libertadores and Sudamericana players, which sell well due to their high demand in the League SBCs.

League SBCs
The League SBCs in EA Sports FC 25 are more complex than ever, especially with the Libertadores and Sudamericana requirements. For these SBCs, you need players from 11 different teams, while also meeting gold and silver requirements to achieve the right overall rating. Investing in these SBCs is worthwhile if you pack a high-value promo card or rare player. However, if you’re low on coins or players, selling tradable Libertadores and Sudamericana players can be a smart move to increase coin balance.

80x5 Pack SBCs
The 80x5 packs require an 84-rated card and an 82-rated squad, which is steep. Although they provide a chance for mid-tier fodder, they often don’t deliver the best value. We didn’t pull any walkouts this time, so a word of caution here: only attempt these SBCs if you have extra fodder or are looking to clear space in your club.

Total Rush Challenge
This week, we tackled the Total Rush Challenge No. 6, which turned out to be one of the toughest SBCs. After investing a mix of untradeable and tradeable players, we finally completed it. The rewards didn’t yield anything spectacular, but it was a relief to complete such a challenging SBC.

The Total Rush Promo: Early Impressions
As we approach the end of the Total Rush promo and move into the Trailblazers, our main focus has been experimenting with new cards and playstyles. Total Rush cards have unique attributes, especially in finesse shots and dribbling. Unfortunately, the best card we packed was Yerry Mina, but we’ll take it as motivation to keep pushing.
Trailblazers, however, seems promising. The PlayStyle Plus feature allows certain players to gain specific playstyles like Finesse Plus and First Touch Plus, which can make a noticeable difference in key moments of the game. If you’re aiming to pack one of these Trailblazers, focus on SBCs and Weekend League rewards where promo cards are most likely to appear.

Weekend League Preparation: The Final Steps
As we gear up for the Weekend League, the final squad adjustments are underway. We’re considering replacing Pires with a faster winger like Adama Traoré or Alex Iwobi for added pace and dribbling on the flanks. This can provide a dynamic option for counterattacks, especially in the 4-4-2 formation.
The key will be managing fatigue and chemistry; we need every player on full chem to maximize their attributes. With a French manager and a few more tweaks, we’re confident the team will be ready for the intense competition of the Weekend League.

Tips for Aspiring RTG Players
For anyone diving into Ultimate Team, here are some tips:

Stay Patient with SBCs
Always check your club before buying players for SBCs, especially for League SBCs. High-value silvers and tradable players from Libertadores and Sudamericana clubs can provide great returns.

Master Your Playstyles
EA Sports FC 25 introduced PlayStyles and PlayStyle Plus. Experiment with these on the training ground to see which playstyles best suit your team and formation.

Balance Your Squad
When making adjustments, ensure that they align with your team’s chemistry and playstyle. Sometimes, replacing one player can affect the entire squad’s balance.

Weekend League Rewards
The Weekend League offers some of the best rewards, so aim to participate. Even if you can’t finish all matches, a few wins can yield valuable packs and coins.

Final Thoughts: What’s Next?
With the Weekend League on the horizon, we’re excited to see how the squad performs. Every RTG journey is about growth and adaptation, and this week has shown that even small adjustments, like switching to 4-4-2 or adding a finesse shot expert like Son, can make all the difference. Stay tuned as we dive into the Weekend League, hoping for wins, great packs, and a whole lot of fun.
